Hi Readers,
Yes I am excited. I lost about 12 kgs in weight and around 3 inches in my waist length from the past 10 months. This is not any mantra or BKM (Best Known methods) to lose weight.
Just felt like sharing this happy moment and never got an opportunity to pen this down. I was about 97 kgs (with most of the weight pinned down on my stomach) and a high level of obesity.
After Sai Sharan (my son) was born I decided to lose some weight and never got myself to start the process. About a year back, I was going with my Mother to one of those regular check ups at Manipal Hospital for her rheumatism problem. I just spoke to the Doctor casually about my obesity problem.
It all started when I looked at a full size mirror at home and saw a huge protruding stomach (starting from my chest). I decided to take the Doctor's advice to start cycling and take a serious control on my diet (especially fatty contents). I decided to take this advice seriously and bought a cycle (MTB-Normal) the very evening. I rode it from Commercial Street to Kammanahalli (app. 11 kms) to my home.
It was really tiring and took a toll on me as I started riding after 20 years. The next day when I rode to my office (again another 11 kms) I faced the reality. It was too tiring and I was exhausted by just 5 minutes of cycling.
I decided to give an incentive for myself and bought some riding gloves the next day. That gave me an extra push towards continuing the cycling. The first week is the most toughest part. Once you get used to it after that it is fun.
It took me 1 hour to reach office for the first week with 3 stops in between. The next week it took me 45 minutes with 2 stops. And by the end of the month, I was taking exactly 25 minutes with just one stop.
One very funny incident is when our Admin lady complained to me saying I was too fast on the cycle and actually overtook the Company vehicle. LOL
The next incentive I gave myself was a treat to bring the car to office on every Friday only. That gave me the extra push to come by Cycle every day and look forward for Fridays.
I would also thank all the support and encouragement my team gave me in this process. Everybody started appreciating me and encouraging me with words and actions.
Another aspect I did is to keep a leaner photo of mine in the mirror so that I can see it every time I see the full size mirror.
I have now been cycling for a little over a year and definitely feel better.
I do know that I have a long way to go before reaching the magic figure I want but at least I can sign off with peace that I am on the way to reach there.
All the best for everyone who have started or waiting to start loosing those extra weights.
Bye all

you are thinking that you are becoming leaner and cutting down food which is actually not good for you. Even though your team members would encourage you in not eating at all I being your wife wont encourage you at all as I am the person who is going to live with you life long and I am the person who is being blamed as though I am not cooking for you anything. Why do you put me in this delicate situation?
Bala, i complimented that you are super fast and over take the motor vehicles :)
