We (Wife & Myself) were planning to go to Mysore from the past three years and were always unsuccessful. Some crisis or the other used to arise and we never managed to make it up to Mysore. Finally this Friday (5th December), we decided abruptly to go to Mysore at any cost.
We started to Mysore in our car (Maruti 800) on Saturday evening (6th December) around 5 pm and after many obstacles and hurdles, we managed to reach Mysore road (Bangalore University) around 8 pm in the evening. Everything was going really smooth till we were about 20 kms from Mysore around 10.30 pm and there started our first trouble. My car tyre got punctured and when I checked I realized that there was no Wheel nut spanner.
I tried stopping cars and only Indicas were stopping (No Maruti wheel nut spanner). Then God’s way of saying, “Main hoon Naa” a localite appeared (Gavi was his name) and he went and fetched a mechanic from a kilometer away.
After changing the wheel we moved towards Mysore and reached it around 11.30 pm. After going up to 10 hotels we managed to get a cottage at The Royal Heritage (near bus stop). It was a very nice cottage and decent price (Rs.650/- all-inclusive).
In the night itself, I had arranged for an auto driver cum guide (Hanif) who agreed to take us around town the whole of next day for just Rs.250/-. So rest assured that everything is in place we went to bed around 12 midnight.
We woke up next day morning around 6.30 and were ready at the reception by 7.45 and more than surprised to find Hanif already there. He took us to the Philomena Church to start the day and it was just a huge monument. Please refer photo below.

After that we went to the Handloom industry and Raadhika (Wife) picked up an amazing pure silk sari for an even more fabulous price. I would recommend you to go for the Government sari shops as there is no tax presently. Just opposite is the Cauvery Handicrafts showroom. It was more than mind boggling to hear the prices. We decided not to buy anything over there.
After that we went to the Zoo and that is the highlight of the whole day. Such an amazing place (though I have been there before), it was just too refreshing for both of us. I have included a few photos below.

Post the zoo we went to the Palace (Wodeyar). It was so rich with our culture and heritage on every part of the wall and floor. Raadhika was just mesmerized and Sai Sharan was simply excited. After relishing the moments at the Mysore Palace we decided to go to PlanetX for lunch.
We cancelled the Auto driver and went in our own car. We had lunch over there and had a game of bowling. It was hilarious to watch Raadhika bowl because the ball was either in this gutter or the other. Even Sai Sharan (My son) was laughing at this.
We moved from there at 5 pm and checked out of the hotel at 6 pm. We started moving towards KRS / Brindavan Gardens and reached it about 7 pm. After seeing the never ending crowd, both of us decided to admire the Garden from afar and move back to Bangalore.
The next stop was at Chennapatna for the toys and some shopping at around 9 pm. After shopping we reached Kadu Mane (A Vegetarian hotel on Mysore road) and had our dinner. We completed dinner at 10.30 pm and reached home by 12 midnight totally fatigued and tired. Just out of our senses and still feeling tired.
